En 1859, Victor a 5 ans 1/2, il perd sa jeune mère (24 ans), Honorine FABRE. Il est alors élevé par sa belle-mère Marthe BELLUGUET, mariée 7 mois après le décès. Devenu presqu’adulte, il travaille comme bucheron comme son père, Jean-Pierre GINOUX.
A partir du 24 août 1875 il effectue son service militaire au 115ème régiment d’infanterie basé à Avignon. Il est soldat musicien le 21 mars 1877 et mis en congé le 18 août 1879. A sa sortie de l’armée, il entre à la société PLM (Paris-Lyon-Marseille) et affecté à la gare du Prado.
